The old guy obviously isn't having a good time in life based just on the look in his eyes alone. It was an accident, and you don't get someone to apologize by screaming at and demeaning them. She acted entirely antagonistic over a mistake and it's no wonder he didn't feel like apologizing after. To violently grab and hold him in the situation when he's trying to deescalate by leaving is crossing a line, and he showed immense restraint by just using a light shove.
