the casual Yuri show playing on the television in the background was surely a coincidence through the whole thing.
They're just good friends, maybe roommates, nothing more, of course.
Hoping this will be a legit pairing before the end of the story

Now imagine Miyu-sensei says she likes girls and her friend is a guy.

Issue is this sometimes the case. Calling someone homosexual was common court slander, gender barriers meant your closest companions were almost always same gender you were. Sometimes that court slander it was accurate, sometimes it was baseless. For example, Queen Elizabeth I all of the documents asserting she was down with the ladies come from her detractors, there is nothing about that from her supporters as well as mentions of several male lovers (she just didn't want to give England a foreign king, and "couldn't imagine marrying a subject" - aka there was no way she was going to get a husband from the Barony without inciting civil war)
This Vs. King Edward II where sources both for and against him are pretty clear in agreement he was way, way WAY too close to Gaveston (but that also might be slander again Gaveston because no one except the king liked his ass.)

There was also much less emphasis on not being open with your feelings - expressing affection for your companions in writing and physically was normal.

You also have the additional issues like Philip II of Macedon who definitely, very clearly, no doubts had a younger male lover (several in his lifetime, actually) as did a number of his court but it was not considered gay unless you were the receptive partner - that was the guy who was gay. So no one just mentioned about who was the catcher. (which was one of the issues with Phillip II's recorded lover, he made no secret he was the receptive partner and was viewed to have too much influence with the king, so the nobility decided he had to go)

Sexuality got a little wild in the times before reliable birthcontrol. Be careful of people trying to use the behavior of dead folks from different times and different cultures to push their agenda.
