Geez, wondering if Charlotte is already concocting schemes to get more intimacy going so that one night at his place, she can then jump him then and there.

Given Akihito is always making himself into the villain at school, I gotta wonder about his backstory that might explain why he seems to feel he doesn't deserve any happiness in his life. I don't think he's dense, but instead he feels he doesn't deserve any chance at Charlotte, and more so if he's trying to play some wingman role to divert her to another guy (e.g., his best friend)

Thank you for the translation!

There are still some questions about our MCs backstory to clear out, and I would personally enjoy more scenes from school, but yes, the relationship is progressing smoothly! I am a bit worried about Emma being too selfish though, it is important for kids to learn how to share...

I wonder if in the real Japan there is actually so much social pressure that you can't actually date a girl if you aren't perceived as a good match for her.

I guess Charlotte doesn't care about "being seen" by others quite so much anymore.
Which, means now it's just the ML who's falling into that age-old

"I'm going to unilaterally decide that the gorgeous-lady-who-I'm-too-dense-to-realize-likes me should not be seen with me in public by anyone who might know someone who knows us, because I've decided that such an event would irreparably harm her social standing among our peers and I am far too feeble to just ignore any rumors that come our way and so I'd rather stick her in the rejected zone and potentially cause issues for our relationship down the line simply because I think it's the correct call even though I never actually asked her opinion on this, and I care more about what I perceive as her image and status than I do her actual feelings or agency"

pattern of behavior that is so prevalent to these sorts of stories.
Which, I knew would happen, but it definitely gets old after awhile.
This drive me nuts, my country might be too one of those in the negative birth ratio but at least we don't have this problem, I hope Japan isn't really like this, but I can unfortunately attest that the Manga world is certainly like it and is infuriating.

It's such a trope in manga that there must be a Japanese cultural background to it. Of course in historical times it would have been an issue in the West as well, in more conservative countries not even that awfully long ago. But it would have been more about a guy fearing the reaction from the girl's parents, especially if they were influential parents, than caring about what classmates would say. Normally if a guy got close to a cute girl, he would be proud and happy about it. The same in the other direction, obviously. It's only in manga where this weird "a beautiful girl is public class property, so no single guy must get close to her" exist.

One thing that tends to accompany it is the fear that all the dudes in class will get pissed at him "monopolizing the Class Idol" and make life hell for the ML - so in that sense it's a weird selfish fetishization of the FL by both the ML and the others in the class.

Which....creepy as fuck, if you ask me.
