I agree that he should definitely talk to her in Japanese if he's aware of it being an issue, but it's also...not like it's his responsibility to oversee her education/immersion into Japan.
Isn't it pointless to say it's not his responsibility when he's already acting pretty much daily as Emma's big brother, at the very least? He even wanted to visit the preschool. Over there, it was Akihito doing the talking, not Charlotte. He was so convincing the teacher never questioned his authority. He has assumed the responsibility already. Seeing how his past deeds, whatever they might be, still weigh so heavily on his shoulders, he's a person who takes his responsibilities extremely seriously. There's no way, logically, he would ignore Emma's language situation now, either, unless he fails to realise it.

I said it wasn't his responsibility because it literally isn't. That's not the same as him taking it upon himself should he notice and then choose to.

Reiterating the rest of what I said that you've seemingly ignored, it will still take time, but I could see it being worked into the series from this point, though I would imagine it would take a back seat of sorts to the other ongoing plot points currently in play, at least in terms of what is being shown chapter-to-chapter.

Sure, if he was an irresponsible person. From what we have seen so far, he's the opposite, assuming more responsibility than an average person would. Of course in this world there are plenty of people who only believe you are responsible for things the laws clearly dictates or any contract that has your name on it, but that's it. Akihito is not one of them.

How could it not take time? It has been pretty weird from the very beginning of this series that Charlotte speaks Japanese but Emma doesn't, nor did there seem to be enough effort to make her speak Japanese. I suppose your desired literal responsibility did show in Akihito not paying too much attention to it before now. He couldn't ignore it anymore after it manifested in such a dramatic way. I doubt he will go back to ignoring it again after this, no matter how the story plans to deal with the issue. However, since it is such a clear plot element in the story, naturally the author plans to make use of it. Otherwise Emma could have spoken Japanese all along.

Hot dayum lol that's actually surprising it gets to that point.
And it's pretty darned open about the whole thing. We don't FTB until really close to the last possible moment. Oh, and everyone in their lives knows about it beforehand because Char can't keep her mouth shut about it.

Oh, he accidentally learned her family was a single mother household? "Oops, sorry. Anyway..." should be the end of it. Single mother households aren't ideal, but they're a real thing that unfortunately happens from time to time. Drama done; back to Emma not wanting to go to school because the only kid that can also speak English is sick.
Yeah, to be honest, I just want this manga to go back to the neighbor fluff from the beginning- minimal school and no drama.
