It depends on the stories you hear, there are a number of stories, theories and rumors about the Dodo birds. I've never actually heard the reports that their meat was horrible tasting tbh, always the opposite. I do know that rats brought over by explorers is the general theory behind the extinction of the Dodo bird, though I've also seen information that details the fact that rats weren't the only invasive species that made their way over (most likely via the currents rather than by boat) and that they actually most likely died out about a few decades after the explorers visited their island. Ultimately the Dodo bird was just simply a species doomed to die since they had very little concept of self-preservation since they spent generations not having any experience with predators, they just kind of met everything humans did with curiosity and wonder, as noted in documents about them. That's what I've learned about them through various sources anyways, but I won't deny that my knowledge on the subject is nowhere near perfect since, as I said, there's a lot of different stories, theories and rumors on the subject, some of which is rather contradictory (something you seem to have noted.) 🤔

if iruma's that much of a threat to the underworld's stability, why not try to assassinate him? i know that wouldn't work because of plot reasons but just from an 'in-universe' point of view, surely if he's that pivotal someone would try to take him out

then again, i guess you'd have to attempt it either at school or home and neither are risk-free when you consider the characters around him tbh

He's working with Baal, who clearly needs Iruma to bring back Delkira or something, so that's not gonna fly.

it's like the concept and degree of likability was never seen before... the former demon king was beloved, but for his frankness, ability to be true to himself and the sheer awe he can invoke.

He dosent really have "original powers" the only notiable "power" is his uncanny ability to avoid danger and blood that heals demons, even his bow and arrow is him using the mana in the ring, and its been stated that humans don't have the ability to manipulate mana. The only power i can see him ever developing is diplomatic power.

More specifically, he was chancellor of the Demon King before Delkira (Dokfel), we saw Mephisto goes back in age every once in a while as mentioned by Dokfel before that he had "gotten smaller" and asked if he "shifted again", Delkira discarded Mephisto's help and thus his role as kingmaker became null and he was basically sent to the background of political play in the demon world, furthermore DElkira had heard of the kingmaker but Mephisto still had to present himself.

Most likely, back then Mephisto was heard of but not personally known by most demons, just the role of kingmaker and chancellor, and after centuries of Delkira's rule without a kingmaker, Mephisto returned to the playing field and is simply known as the "mindgames king" Mephisto. Most demons currently probably never heard of a "kingmaker" as there wasn't one, and much less associated it with Mephisto, probably the only ones who know are those who were high ranks during Delkira's reign, like Sullivan, the other 2 of the 3 greats, and Poro and such.

Maybe Narnia knows Mephisto's true identity (since he is involved with the demons who want to "return to origins"), but to the current DBP besides him, Mephisto is just another 13 crowns and to Azami the orders were to prevent Iruma's rising and beware of Mephisto taking Iruma's side. To Narnia, due to how the scala works, Mephisto would only intervene if he had taken a liking to Iruma. They are not making an enemy, but rather trying to prevent what they see as a threat and seeing in case the threat had become greater.
