Add to this the tidbits from other chapters, like the Fingers being interested in data from Levialon and the glimpses of lab equipment, and you can infer that Baal dabbles in unethical experimentation on live demons, specifically "enhancing" their bodies, probably to make them more primordial or somesuch. Bestowing the fruits of such experimentation upon your enforcers seems logical.

4. some of their own members will turn on them because Baal lied to their faces.

Anyone else feel like we’re speed running our way to the end of the series? This feels like the final arc of the story but there’s still so many loose ends that’ll never get tied up at this point.

What is azz’s bloodline magic?
What is Clara’s big secret?
What about the trickster plan? Every one of the thirteen crowns got to pick a candidate we’ll never see.
What about delkira in the ring?
There’s no record of a spider demon so who is that guy?
So many more.

The big arcs like the harvest festival were like 40+ chapters so we’ll have some time but I feel like in the past each of these questions would have at least gotten a mini arc

I'd honestly be shocked if it ends within 40 or even 100 chapters, while we're definitely making progress toward the climax I feel like this is going to be the kind of giant arc that has smaller arcs within it. I think we're in the final act, but if we were to divide the series up into a 3-act structure that would still give us like 200 chapters to go.
