I'd honestly be shocked if it ends within 40 or even 100 chapters, while we're definitely making progress toward the climax I feel like this is going to be the kind of giant arc that has smaller arcs within it. I think we're in the final act, but if we were to divide the series up into a 3-act structure that would still give us like 200 chapters to go.

I mean one of the chapters foreshadows that Irumi is the next king, so to me it depends on the writer. This could be the final act and then flash forward to Irumi as king, or this could just be an arc, and shenanigans go on to show how he rises to king. The fact the gods exist, apparently dumb as hell, means there could even be a bigger bad that hasn't even been shown. I just see this like the I love you lets date in a romcom, sure usually the writer ends it there, but nothing is stopping them from showing daily lives as a couple with additional milestones like family and marriage.

Damn I just realize I was subconsciously writing Iruma as Irumi above.

I am genuinely surprised humans are still being treated that well, etc. Was expecting his treatment to be a lot darker, despite how fluffy the manga is.

I presume (lore wise) it's because these are "civilized" demons. To them, Iruma (and humans in general) are akin to some dangerous invasive species or illegal drug in circulation, which needs to be handled quick and swift right away. If they were like the ones returning to their origins or a lawless country, then Iruma/humans in general would be either sold for consuption like cattle, raised to withdraw blood or other much darker turns than this one.
