didnt know operas gender was debated lol but i guess that fits with most of the other characters
It's cause they never say him or her just their name. So operas is opera...but if we want the biggest answer look up 34 lol

Strange as it seems, despite the complete lack of secondary sexual characteristics, Opera has always obviously been female. It has never even been a matter for debate. Males just do not behave the way she does. It is as simple as that.

For the longest time I thought Opera was a guy, not bc of the drawing design but bc when I started reading the manga in the version that I read (can't recall the website now) they referred to Opera as a "he" so I got stuck with it. It was only much later when I switched pages (in some sites the updates are faster) that I found out Opera is a non-binary character.
Translators can sometimes mix up some details along the way and it can really change a lot of the story, specially depending on which translated language you're reading it

I mean, you can’t get it wrong, according to them.
Kalego had some kind thing going on in school days. Fashion? Trying stuff out? Both?
my head canon: “Young master , ahem, suit? Skirt?“ “Yeah, the suit is fine, but the skirt needs to go harder. Dress. Black. Maxi length.” “Wait-“ “Did I stutter?!”
Opera, in official canon: “This, that, one of these and this.”

This manga rips.
All Jewy and queer and hilarious and action-packed!

I can get behind non-binary opera, the anime gave me the vibe of opera being male, doesn't matter much either way.

What does "Jewy" mean?
It’s chock full of Judaism, as much as or more than any other mythology or tradition.
It stands out, because most artists usually pull from Shinto, Christian, Buddhist, Chinese or even Islam at times for source material.

I have never in my life read a manga and seen any of our ish there.
I have gotten to leave comments like “who uses a GOLD kiddush cup?! Were all the ones before [I lost count] gold?” “This is a weird bar mitzvah. Chanting Gd’s name backwards is killing me!”
lots and lots of stuff.

I love it.

like what?
Well, the alphabet, the numerous kiddush cups (I looked at ones like they use, but they’re generally heavily silver plated and thus cost money. Mine is adonised aluminum. I had one, like they use, but it broke. I could swear I’ve seen some of those patterns of Judaica sites. The grape patterns are such a dead giveaway), the number of characters with very specific peyos (my least strong argument, because anime hair), terminology, structure of various rituals, the last major arc (free Palestine) is it very much a “promised land” narrative…
I may add more, so check back later. I just woke up. There is A LOT, but most of it is so “goyim won’t notice” that I almost think Nishi is either converting or a convert. Unless they moved to Tokyo when they got this serialisation, I doubt the latter part. There really aren’t any communities outside Tokyo.

Nishi did her research. I busted out laughing at so many moments.

It’s all just sourcing imagery, mythology, visual flavour, etc.
Like I said, most artists pull from other sources, so this got me excited every time I saw it, because it’s relatable
