Honestly, Mineta is a more developed and even more likeable character than Caim.

That isn't saying much though. They're both just nasty. One is just a more nuanced nasty than the other.
It is crazy that you think Mineta is more well developed/written than Caim.
Don't get me wrong; I hate both of these characters, on god I do. But Caim has done more for the plot of Mairuma, than Mineta has.

What's really funny, is that his ambition is the closet thing I can relate to. Not the be popular for girls but just aiming for something purely for himself. No greater goal to be a king, hero, top achiever or whatever. Also he is not that disgusting as I initially thought he was going to be. He is goofy and honest.

There are so many people with this level of lack-of-self-awareness in real life and it sucks and I hate it.
Misguided at best - like someone stuck on the idea that being buff or having a lot of money is what will make them "Popular"

If he'd realized that doing what he just did would actually be what made him popular with those two girls, if feels like at least he could make that change and throw himself at it as earnestly as being a "Gentleman"

Mr. Hat's lessons in trying to understand and study the motivations of magical beasts has probably at least partially set him upon that path, along with this event. On the other hand, his shenanigans are easy comic relief, so who knows how much progress he'll actually make. He'll probably backslide some, at the least. But I think he's got good odds of progressing towards some level of increased self-awareness.

Caim might be a pervert but he's much better than the likes of Mineta for example. He never touched a girl when she explicitly said no, the only thing he does wrong is that he's extremely honesty and ends up broadcasting stuff that shouldn't be broadcast. I like him a lot and that's coming from a woman. I also like his conviction, some ppl might say it's "shallow" but I don't think so. A conviction just needs to be strong enough to make you fight, wether it's shallow or silly doesn't really matter. So what if him wanting to impress girls is silly or stupid? Is a motivation as any other and as long as he does good actions then it's fine. It's like ppl who complain that "x influencer only donates food for fame!" and like, that's fine?? Mate it doesn't matter why they're donating food, what matters is that someone in need is getting that food
