They generally set it up from the start these days, and birds flock together irl, but it’s a very tired trope.
I’ve seen a number of manga start out as a gay love story that seems grounded in reality slowly become “Another Yuri Manga”. Here comes their spunky best friend, then the class president and vice president and then the school nurse(🤢) and I just don’t care anymore.
Friends get together. Friends of friends also do the same. You date at work, you date at school. You date inside your enviroment. It's arguably the most realistic depiction.

It’s always the same ones, though. No matter how realistic it starts out it devolves into the same characters by different names doing the same thing as in every other one.
And the percentage of gayness often rises to “Barbie: Big City Big Dreams” level. That is to say; absurd. How many times has a yuri manga become a school made up of almost entirely if not entirely queers? Most?

I usually just read BL for queer reading because it is improving faster.

I understand your point of not wanting to keep seeing basically Prez and vice-Prez getting together. But this manga was already about a manga editor getting together with an ex-Idol, and now their friends, a mangaka and an Idol might do the same(most likely, hopefully).

Just stick to BL then, i love yuri and it's the only genre i read the most, so obviously i don't mind tropes, i actually like them if they are interestingly set up. And this manga is one of the better yuri. And don't get me wrong, i got some haters here for calling out bad yuri, but come on, this doesn't deserve the hate.

I’m saying that my (and their) point was it’s a tired trope.
this is not the most egregious example, but it’s there. We suddenly get basically no new content from the title characters and it’s basically an entirely different series, now.
I’d prefer a spin-off series and the original just end over that.
It‘s not about living in a house with a landlord and gayness. It’s about idols.

It's been one chapter...the last one was Asako's birthday.

Idols was a theme since the beginning, it was a big arc of Miyako getting used being an ex-idol. The whole thing is about living in a house with a landlord, yes. With a landlord that is an ex-idol, which you left out. Did we even read the same manga or are you just being argumentative?

lol is like your BLOODY FRIENDS don’t HAVE AN ROMANTIC LIFE !!! wtf is this shit? it’s quite natural to show in stories like this to have side romance!
Like I literally just wrote. Its getting annoying that every single GL series the author just for the sake of it, make it so every single character in the series gets together with eachother. You do know its more unnatural for all your friends to both be in a relationship and also for all of Them to be lesbian, than it is for most of Them not being in a relationship or being straight🤦🏼‍♂️

I don't get the complaining. Like, why now? This was set up 10 chapters ago. There is plenty of yuri where the main girls get together but their friends don't, and there is yuri manga where sometimes two of the couples friends get together, too. This is yuri manga. If you really think every yuri manga is this way, like you said you do, then you should honesty read more. If you don't want anyone end up together by the end, by all means, go read some older yuri.

Why so snippy?
That was an aspect of her story, with the present day being their daily life. It was backstory, not story. There’s a difference between occasional flashbacks to establish character motivations and “the story”.

Stop being so obtuse.
What’s not in the manga right now? A WOMAN WHO LIVES IN A HOUSE WITH HER LANDLORD. That’s my point. They are not in the story anymore, as such, the story is not about them anymore. Thus, it is a story unrelated to the title, because the title is referring to them. The renting of a house with monthly rent, a garden and a landlord included, and living with said landlord.

It is now about an overworked artist who lives in a small flat, and a very famous, overworked idol. They do not live together.
Nothing about the story is similar. I’d have read the spin-off. I’m reading this, but it should be a spin-off.

What is with your attitude? “There is a tired trope. Here are some examples. This is less bothersome than others, but it’s got some of that, too. It’s also a different story, now. A story unrelated to the title.”

”The former main character used to work with this current main character. You ever-so conveniently left that out when you mentioned the change in subject veering from what the title is. You can’t even read!” Classy, kiddo.

edit: replaced a period with a question mark.

“How dare you complain about a trope in media! This manga is clearly perfect! Read some other manga because you disliking this offends me deeply! I am deeply affected by how other people feel about the media I consume!”
😬 🙃 👏 👏 👏

edit: I like that you went off on me for not liking the direction a manga went and when I talk smack back all you have is an emoji.

Alright then, enjoy your BL. Surely they do tropes better. It's all japanese manga, after all.
I said things are improving faster there. Fewer things with assault being part of courtship (pretty rare, now), actual addressing of homophobia and the like in society, stories that remain about the main characters after they’re a couple…
”it’s all Japanese manga after all”
A: Manga is Japanese by definition. Japanese comics.
B: What is that even supposed to mean In this context?

Are you high? Are you in the 80th percentile?

YEESH.
