I'm here for Rea and Tama to gush in tandem over their infatuation with and love for Shien. The fact there's seemingly no jealousy between them (thus far) is even better; the lot of 'em have enough on their plate without worrying about possessiveness and the like.

It actually makes sense that we might get Rea's "full backstory" piece-by-piece. As Shien said; recovering the full gamut of Rea's memory in one dosage (as it were) would actually be really bad, assuming that it's multiple centuries' worth all getting crammed into one skull simultaneously. Forget trauma; that sort of thing could probably kill someone just by overloading their neurocircuitry.
I still look forward to getting the full download eventually, but parsing it out and letting a few more lighthearted bits intercede here and there is a good narrative choice. Even with Mode-chan, we got the heavy, and then immediately after got the exultation of her finding safety with Shien and Tama and discovering the good in her life again (like with her new rat friends). So "balance in all things", as it were.

Art's incredible as ever, that's just me being a broken record, but it bears mentioning at every turn, so. I just love the idea of cigarette smoke being a magic projector for memories; fits the motif, and works with hose ethereal the artwork for this series is.
