@bombypupe I guess they intentionally lose it to grow old alongside their partner and/or to hide their identity as a witch, but Mikage chose not to lose her powers as she needs them to keep her love alive, and he learned of her identity and would rather reincarnate multiple times to be with her instead of having her die alongside her.
