Also, why is that novel writers think every class party is balanced? Best rookie party is "warrior+warrior+warrior+warrior" and best veteran party is "battle mage+summoner+any mage+any mage".

@kuzunagi13 - traditional Dungeons and Dragons clerics are capable frontline combatants. Not quite as good as fighters or paladins, but they can hold their own in melee. In general, you can expect any cleric who holds a mace (instead of a staff or holy symbol) to conform to that archetype.
Balance? Clerics and Druids were just better than other classes.

@kwendy - "balanced" doesn't mean "kicks a lot of ass". It means "doesn't suck at anything in particular".

Also party with too diverse and specialised classes would suck at kicking ass due to small number or members, wich is a concern.

@kwendy - groups oriented to kicking maximum amount of ass are called "armies".
Adventurer parties are meant to take on the challenges armies can't fight properly by employing unconventional approaches enabled by gathering different sorts of people together. They have limited numbers (ability to cooperate and rewards go down as number of people increases), not that much combat power, but they are sneaky, full of tricks and can usually avoid fighting things that are too strong for them.

@flannan Primary sourses of income for vagabo... Erm, adventurers are those requiring some heavy boot up some baddie's ass (otherwise they won't be required at all). If you deminish your force by making each team member doing their own thing - that only spells trouble. I mean, it's OK if it's a cartoon logic and each trouble would wait for specialist to do the thing and heavy hitter monster waiting for a duel with frontliner hobo for example, but in actuality it's much more logical to participate in the fun together.

also it's not like in game where you know which class work best against that dungeon
you need to your party to atleast can do everything and prepare for any situation
actually i hate the game that just put the same op class in party and you can finish any dungeon easily
i like the game where you need different class to help support the team like tank , dps , healer something like this
(im assassin main so in game where i mention assassin pretty useless in dungeon unless it's game that don't need support from other just put enough dps and you can clear the dungeon
because assassin main point is high dps against single target yeah i like pvp)

@kwendy - exactly. Traps would not wait until an all-thief party comes along, ghosts would not avoid an all-fighter party and so on. In adventuring, you can only increase brute power after you're done diversifying to protect yourself from common fantasy hazards.
In-battle balance is also important. "Forget tanking and healing, let's all do damage" tactics are only viable in a video game where you can just respawn when things go wrong. Because they will go wrong.
All-fighter party can potentially be viable, but it just wouldn't have the firepower afforded by having a mix of frontline fighters and backline casters. At least, not in a narrow corridor that doesn't allow 4 fighters to form a shield wall.

Oh man, I'm loving the premise and characters so far. They all seem real fun, harem be damned - and MC's so OP that nobody believes what he's capable of. It's played off so "normally" and feels natural. Mmmmm. Quality.

@Andiza You are saying like you actually pointed out what is bad with this composition. Just in case you don't understand: yo didn't.
@flannan It's surprising how much can you deal with by brute force you know. In fact. brute force is the most versatile thing you can imagine, until mages are joining with their fieball shanenigans and meta spells.
In battle "balance" will only leave you with weak link in your ranks, wich is much more likely prove fatal in case of 3-5 people crew. Specialists would be good by my approximation in 7-10 people parties. Narrow corridors would only be most beneficial to warriors as it utilises their strengths to the fullest, others would be more limited in their options.
Tanking and healing would only work in a videogame, where everything comes to virtual numbers and not injures, you actually want to not receive any damage while taking enemy out of combat. Again: if weak link gets injured it would snowball into your party wipe just by merphy's law.

@kwendy - of course it would snowball if you rush in with brute force and no backup plan, tanks or healers. Relying on not getting injured at all is a fool's errand.

@kwendy - a balanced group does not rush into danger. They send a roguish type to scout ahead, and fight only if they feel they can win without anybody dying. It doesn't always work, but adventurers really can't expect to win every fight.
A group that finds itself unable to avoid a dangerous battle because there is too much at stake is not a professional adventuring party, it's a group of Heroes. Heroes have different concerns - they can be sure Evil will employ every trick in the book to take them down, and they need to be able to withstand all that. Whether it's poison in their drink or harpies dropping bombs. On the good side, such parties usually have excess of talent that allows them to have a party's worth of versatility in every person.

However, this is a generic fantasy manga with catgirls. So stupid bullshit stereotype of honorable samurais is a 'OK'.
