If men could give birth and women couldnt it would be the opposite way around, because nature built gender the way it did without accounting for intelligence on the level we humans have, it made the pairing "men protect the women so that they can produce more offspring at a higher success rate", society grew up but our genetics didnt and people want the stories created to have both genders on equal terms but when your trying to portray something based off of the real world its kinda hard to go against the bias nature imbued. Untill genetics even out theres going to be this type of narrative and if you dont like it then i wish you the best of luck in finding a story that portrays the utopian future desired.

@mentos Although cats thrashing their tail can mean irritation, in my experience it's easier to say it means excitable. The difference can be seen by looking at how stiff the tail is, listening to how hard it hits, and watching the eyes and ears. I think the artist did a good job of depicting surprise and embarrassment with her tail movements.
