Poor orcs, got genocided because they have no female mmm...

This is a fascinating and unique part of the story. Normally orcs are throwaway menaces, like wild beasts that use weapons. It is rare enough to encounter one advanced enough to talk, but this orc emperor says something profound: "Hate the god for making the world this way."

Orcs are victims of circumstance, needing humanoid women to procreate. Thus they will always be in conflict with the other races, even if they were not so warlike. Well, it also doesn't help their case that they eat people as well, but then in some stories people eat dead orcs like pork. In any case, they are set up by their biology to do this kind of stuff.

But Eileen's response is also amazing. "I stand corrected. This is a war for the lives of each other." [a war of survival]. She started out with what amounted to a moral argument, saying orcs are evil because of their raiding of human settlements. The orc responded by saying that humans invade orc-occupied land. Eileen counters by calling orcs cruel, and the orc's final argument about biology is devastating. Eileen shows wisdom by abandoning her stance and reducing their fight to one of simple survival. If they must be in conflict because the orcs dependence on raided females forces them to always raid humanoid settlements, then the two must fight for survival, not for such higher reasons as morality. It is very honest of her to see the error of her first argument and not attempt to defend it any longer.
