He's actually quite realistic, especially in a world of magic. He grew up in a highly privileged environment, but not only that, he was the most talented individual there. If he had actually had some great goal to work for, he might have been saved mentally, but he had nothing. In RL, a single individual obviously has great limitations, but when you add magic, the limits are much higher, which can make the arrogance grow equally bigger. At least he does have the single saving grace of holding himself to the same standards he puts others down with. So, if someone breats him at something, he will naturally accept it. Too bad such people didn't appear more often in his youth.I still really hate Glenn's existence as a character, both from a writing standpoint and from him being obnoxious
I can try to summarize the main points for a start:I might need to reread the necromancer arc, been a while I forgor about the details 😅.
Thank you for the chapter! Aww the girls were being nice to Cecilia is good too, but we need more Cecil bullying :v
I can't thank you enough for writing the summary . I only remembered the village being raided part cause how grim it is compared to the story before.I can try to summarize the main points for a start:
I kind of skimmed a bit at the end there, but I think I explained it well enough. Let me know if I missed anything crucial or mistaken somewhere.
- Alice grew up in a noble home with her parents neglecting attention to her. To make up for it, they got her a pet rabbit to keep her company. She grew attached to it, of course, but by the time it died, the parents made the soulless proposal of getting a 'replacement' for her. I believe this was what led Alice to an existential crisis at such a young age, being feared that she, too, would be merely replaced if something happened to her, thus her obsession to being 'the only one' to her parents began, becoming a daughter that they could never replace.
- To achieve this, she studied necromancy, trying to bring her pet back to life-because obviously she was the 'only one' for her, a true friend she could confide in-hoping that she'll find a way to keep herself immortal or something alike so her parents wouldn't be driven to replace her for any reason. Getting a good rep with her academics in school would also up her 'only one' value in her parents' eyes.
- At some point down the line, her ambition got out of hand and started doing illegal activity for the sake of furthering her necromancy research, to the point that her parents disowned her as they had enough of it. This caused her to snap and commit inhumane acts like wiping out an entire village under a neglectful count's authority, which then caught the attention of our main party tracking her down after some thorough investigation, and finally ending her life then and there.
atleast he isn't an a-hole:I still really hate Glenn's existence as a character, both from a writing standpoint and from him being obnoxious
nice perspective there but I didn't see any connect between 'her parents disowned her' and 'zombiefied an entire village'"...being feared that she, too, would be merely replaced if something happened to her, thus her obsession to being 'the only one' to her parents began, becoming a daughter that they could never replace."
I call this kind of mindset is "throwing everything you have for something you believe" or simplely: loveI am really not feeling how this chapter tries to romanticize objectification of self and others.
"I want to be his thing! That gave me purpose, because I failed at everything else!"
Fucking what mate? Is that supposed to be respectable? And why would "7th" ever idolize a person who wanted to exploit her at her weakest?
What a bizarre show of abuse appreciation.
I could be incorrect in the order of events and motivations, however, but this is what I came up with based on what I remembered. Never a bad idea to go back and reread something for the fun of it.I can't thank you enough for writing the summary . I only remembered the village being raided part cause how grim it is compared to the story before.

Three vile villains capturing an innocent maiden. Whatever obscene things will these gremlins do to her against her will?I love that author doesnt shy away from showing off girls' gremlin side, some fresh air compared to usual moeblobs
It reminds me of one of the otome villainess mangas, where the MMC was cursed to be obsessed with something, and if that didn't happen, or it happened with the wrong thing, the world would be ruined. Enter FMC.If he had actually had some great goal to work for, he might have been saved mentally, but he had nothing.
Yeah, he's very much a grey character, despite the relatively black introduction.atleast he isn't an a-hole:
I read it more as dedication towards something you love. Not that there aren't some less pleasant undertones in this particular example, but I wouldn't extrapolate those details as being part of the overall message.I am really not feeling how this chapter tries to romanticize objectification of self and others.
Some people like complex characters. Some don't. Some only like characters you could be friends with IRL. Some like villainous characters. And everything in between. You do you. While such a person can clearly exists, and he doesn't feel too contrived, it is also within good reason why people may not enjoy reading about a narcissist genius ikeman boi who can do everything and anything, and has the personality of a landfill.
All hail Bertia Noches, saviour of the world due to sheer adorablenessIt reminds me of one of the otome villainess mangas, where the MMC was cursed to be obsessed with something, and if that didn't happen, or it happened with the wrong thing, the world would be ruined. Enter FMC.
While that's all good and dandy, his opinion that people are "things" that solely exist to entertain him, or that "the world is separated by the weak and the strong", is incredibly warped and flawed, and can easily make him an unpleasant character to read about.
