Great Hero Will and his companions, who taught us head-wrapping and saved us from the orcs.
I like the idea. I did find it funny they just attached 大 to 英雄 basically making "hero" into "bigger hero." Though, since I'm only a fan tl, I don't really want to stray too far from the raw. And, also for continuity since I previously TLed it as "Great Hero" in ch 24.This seems to be a translation artifact of the Japanese switching from "英雄" to "大英雄"—it comes off as weird or a Joke in English. It might be better to pick a different word for "大英雄", like "champion".
I find that the manga handles serious themes well. And takes humor breaks from them well too, otherwise the story can quickly get too dark to read.Sincerely, if you don't know how to handle more serious themes, and will just turn them into a joke. It would be better to not add them to your manga at all.
do you think that the solution for the girls that were raped was good?I find that the manga handles serious themes well. And takes humor breaks from them well too, otherwise the story can quickly get too dark to read.
I've seen worse. At least this time they got some manner of mental health care.do you think that the solution for the girls that were raped was good?
This seems to be a common artifact of translating into English, which happens to have a vocabulary richer with synonyms than average. Quite a few words that are built out of simple compounds in other languages are distinguished by separate words in English. 大 seems to be a good example of this for Japanese—it shows up in many of its terms without being out of place, yet sounds clumsy if translated directly. How would it look to use "great school" instead of "university", for example?I like the idea. I did find it funny they just attached 大 to 英雄 basically making "hero" into "bigger hero."
I think it's a mistake to think of a literal translation as not straying. Every translation is imperfect; the job of the translator is to figure out which aspects are most important and prioritize them, and generally literalism is not the most important—it's one of the reasons that MTL is often so bad, actually. And fan TLs can often do a better job because they can spend more time to make good choices than professionals can afford.Though, since I'm only a fan tl, I don't really want to stray too far from the raw.
Updating the translation in ch 24 would also achieve that—assuming you had the time to do so, anyway. And, also for continuity since I previously TLed it as "Great Hero" in ch 24.
Actually, making it a switch from "a hero" to "the hero" instead of "a great hero" would be decent choice, too. And if you're going for subtlety, it might be superior. It was a misunderstanding that William wanted to be a hero, William wanted to be the hero from storybooks.
