Is it just me or (...)

It's just you.
My first thought on meeting another clearly sentient creature isn't killing and eating it.

Even if it is non-sentient, I would need some good cause to eat it.
But if it had tool-use and culture (i.e. hominidae) I would be vehemently repulsed by it.

Maybe cannibalism evolved in their "world" due to necessity, cultural value difference.
But if that were the case, there is zero room for debate. Negotiation requires compatible cultural standards.

I'm willing to cut the moral wangst right there, as far as "survival of my race" goes.
Charity is a luxury nature will ill afford.

From the humans viewpoint? Nah they are pure evil. From the viewpoint of nature? I mean they are just trying to get food, not sure why humans exactly but that's not evil, we do eat animals after all.
