Also, maybe just use "Senpai". Using "Senior" has always felt weird to me.

I think it's weird to use Japanese words in an English translation. And I don't think there's anything wrong with "senior adventurers".

It feels disingenuous when they decided to forego safety when the mage wanted to go investigate a bit more yet the entire group decided against it.

Worse still when they weren't trying to keep the others out of trouble, but I guess if the only person who is accustomed to it was the big burly man, then maybe he just left himself go that time?...no, still no. They really didn't give the vibe that they were properly doing anything, even when the mage insisted on being cautious. Author could've properly set it up, but gave the shortest disclaimer they could and then proceeded to make it so if you tried to pay attention, it would not work
