I'd say it might just run in the family, but I don't think it's restricted to that family, or to just wizards. I mean, just look at half of the characters. They're various degrees of insane or otherwise dysfunctional.

I'm guessing Eileen believed her sword would have been damaged or destroyed. Considering the damage done to the cliffside, if she tried to block Satsuki's hit it wouldn't have ended well, so she jumped to mitigate the damage to her sword. That's my two cents.

Such a good manga, I'm so glad I randomly picked it up. It's the same as with "Survival Story of a Sword King" - the synopsis and cover may be really deceptive, you might think that it's yet another manga with an OP male lead and a harem, and I personally don't like those. I mean, Will is kinda popular with women, but this title is so, so much more, and his comrades are such lovable, derpy assholes they are 80% of the reason I like this

It’s like how most CG anime is godawful except for the studios that put in the work. CG/MTL is just a tool, the effort of the artist/translator will be evident regardless in the final output
