And Cyril has to act like a mom for their party.
Isn't that her usual role?

It’s like how most CG anime is godawful except for the studios that put in the work. CG/MTL is just a tool, the effort of the artist/translator will be evident regardless in the final output
The best two examples of CG I can think of is Clannad and Arpeggio of Blue Steel. The former used it for the deliberate dissonance and otherness you get from CG that doesn't quite match the rest of the series, while the latter is about alien looking war ships. On the whole, mecha and other sci fi often does better with CG since it's more in line with what's expected.

I thought they couldn't top the relentless trolling of William's father.
And then the Punching Division.

This manga, I swear.

Lemme guess, the magician division has blue mages using goblin punch to counter the ring. :ROFLMAO:
Blue mage....trial fights....win fight no spell, win fight no spell, win fight no spell....over and over and over.... o_o

Somehow in all my years reading manga with elves in them, I think this is the first time I've seen the gag "you've aged so much already" from an elf - probably due to most protagonists having dead or missing parents.

Same, I was actually both amazed and greatly amused by that scene.
I have seen the trope of "touching scene where elves come to aid and recognize someone that has aged a lot since they helped them, and the elves realize how quickly life passes them by in a touching reunion" before, but never seen this deconstruction of it. "He's my son" is such a wonderful take on it, and honestly extremely apparent in retrospect.
Takes a stroke of true genius to realize the obvious that lies in everyone else's blindspot.

In Japan, Seahorse is tatsu-no-otoshigo(lit. Dragon's child), that's the joke how a seahorse appear when they were expecting a dragon.

About the translation on page 22. "If I'm certain, William reserched Ancient [...]".
This sounds a bit off to me. From the feel of what he says, one of the following two options would sound better (don't know how close or far those would be to the japanese original):
1) If I'm correct, William researched Ancient [...]" <-- James is not 100% sure
2) I'm certain, that William researched Ancient [...]" (maybe "sure" instead of "certain") <-- James is actually sure
