Alright copy paste from reddit for my hot takes for this manga, i actually want it go to another revamp from the start:

Personally, i dont like how the story goes especially from the one-shot version(The very one-shot ver with artist, Ashigaki Tei). I prefer if it's about Kimura-Manaka growing relationships instead of making it into Kimura's harem, which personally kinda shot down the original premise about Kimura trying to help Manaka wins the Ei cup, but instead Manaka decided to step down from Ei cup, and pursue Kimura. I know it's probably gonna become a short one instead if it's going very vanilla like that. But adding this weird harems of Ei, even Takabi herself into Kimura is just confusing for me, and makes the story more complicated than what it needs.

The part where the Editor lied about the sales being strong is worrying to see.
I don't want this series to get cancelled, it's way too good for that.

Hey, 6 months hiatus is actually pretty good!
It gives the author plenty of time to think about how to best continue the story from that insane cliffhanger.

Gonna be a pain to wait, but it's gonna be so worth it.

... I just hope the next department actually has proper work etiquette.

Damn... In just a month, I've heard 2 stories about horrible editors and publising companies (the other was about the 'Cells At Work' Author)

1. Design is really doing some work. Just changing her hairstyle turned her from a losing heroine to a supportive friend-type character.

2. Really curious how she intends to make him 'win'. The only answer I can think of is Kimura fall in love with someone and not negelect those feelings, but the only one he has any possible feelings for is Manaka. So does she know or is she gonna wingman him with anyone else he knows (mainly Takabi and Ei)?

Hope this series gets revived in another publishing. The editor lying about the sales is... worrying, but hopefully it was more on the editor doing a poor job than the story not clicking with people.

Guess see you all in 6 months

The crazy part is that this is the second time that some publishing shenanigans happened. The first time the series was planned to run on Jump+ with the artist of the oneshot - like it had a planned advertisement on the Jump+ website - but was hidden due to unknown reasons, until serialization started on Champion Cross a few years later.

Sucks the mangaka got screwed over by the editor :angery:
Looking forward to the publication's return.

It's always the interesting manga that end up getting in publication trouble, hope the series comes back even stronger.
I bet it’s bc the unique concepts are selected for less popular magazines as they stand out, while the safe mainstream stories are favored by the big publishers who want predictable revenue

Surely this means we'll get more than five volumes? (i.e. more than 36 chapters)

It seems they had a guarantee for at least five volumes with their old publisher, even with the real sales figures, so there would be no point to choosing the nuclear option (with all its ramifications for future work opportunities) unless their new publisher was willing to give them assurances they wouldn't have to cut the story short. In which case the story as currently planned should take us well beyond 36. Waku waku!
