Is the author seriously telling us he went in there with no plan and on top of that sent most of his men to die for nothing….
This reflects poorly not only on the MC, but also Maou, who is a reincarnation of a warlord who is supposed to be knowledgeable about this stuff.

Losing is fine, even getting outmatched is fine, but just having the character uncharacteristically job is poor. (Though admittedly writing a good losing battle for your MC is not easy)

If you know you’re numerically disadvantaged, you don’t march in without caution everywhere with all your troops, if anything you would try to guerrilla your way against the enemy.

Even ignoring the short chapters, there's no flow in this battle. A lot of the time it's even hard to see who's on which side with all betrayals, let alone which side is actually winning. It's closer to a real, chaotic battle, but reality is a notably bad storyteller.

Holy crap. He really had no plan. None. I had low expectations for this after all of the blunders the mangaka has made (human army marching in platemail in muddy conditions and still beating the demons, swapping between a catapult and a trebuchet and then drawing them backwards, the humans somehow mass-producing guns after having them for a super short time, and the humans somehow launching a surprise attack from a river crossing that the demon army had eyes on) but the author still somehow managed to disappoint me. The demon army's greatest tactician is an idiot.

you don't think they could just hand wave and put in a human isekai who is knowledgeable of war and noticed things being similar to Asian war tactics.

Not gonna lie here, lhtranslations, as a tl group, you are getting worse. Not in terms of tl quality, but you used to actually tl full chapters and have your 4-5 pages of self-promotion for the WHOLE CHAPTER. Now you have gone to chapter parts, and the 4-5 pages of self-promotion is attached to each part. That's wild. In a decidedly not good way no less.

The official raws are split into 4-5 parts.

I see, the idiot ball was caught and caught hard by the MC and his allies for plot reasons.
This whole arc has a similar feeling as half the plot necessary cutscenes in Mass Effect 3, where your turbo Shepard can't get jack done, and somehow keeps losing to that emo-edge-ninja dude, OG-character pls don't steal.

So I am guessing the mystery figure will lead to the introduction of the cover art girl.
