Actually this type of short-sightedness lines up perfectly with power hungry nobles that don't care about the damage they cause in their pursuit of greater power. They are also willing to destroy the world before negotiating with those they believe are inferior.

Let's be honest here, humans, as a species, are capable of both amazing and terrible things. Sadly, this type of behavior is not unique or unrealistic. This has happened before, and continues to happen in modern times.

I don't disagree either, I didn't make much of an impact for me. I don't expect much of the manga, so I'm not that harsh with it.
