Back in chpt. 11 Ike went out of his way to save the dwarves because they’re the only ones with sufficient capabilities to craft the guns (it’s kind of ridiculous, I know), so that might be why he was fine with it....That was nice.
Remember to pick up the guns afterwards though. Aside from it's a waste, it's a risky thing to have them reverse-engineered by whoever recovers them.
This is a good point and it got me doing a bit of a research, which presumably what the author and artist did as they whip up the story to picture the gun. I did find that some flintlock pistols are water resistant, assuming of course this article on Wikipedia is accurate.I was under the impression that the length of the barrel had little to do with rain tolerance. The firing mechanism getting damp, on the other hand...
I noticed the same, but my understanding was that that was about specific duelling pistols in comparison to other pistols, not long guns. They had a more refined trigger mechanism to increase reliability and reduce delay between pulling the trigger and the shot firing. I also found some other source that mentioned waterproofing, but again, that was on the firing mechanism, and had nothing to do with the barrel. This is a good point and it got me doing a bit of a research, which presumably what the author and artist did as they whip up the story to picture the gun.
