@Vincentius: I mean, humans are a bunch of bastards that often hold irrational hatred towards anyone not in their group; we've seen it almost constantly throughout real world history, so it shouldn't be surprising that it'd get taken to an extreme with actual non-human races.

Then again humans love, love, LOOOOVE animals. Okay, we eat them too and kill them, when we feel threatened by them. And sometimes we kill them because we are disgusted by some of them. (I don't consider those psychos, who hunt for fun, as normal humans.) Yet there is enough love, so we can safely say, Humans are capable of empathy. Funnily enough it seems one of the animals we have the least freebie empathy with is the human itself. And yes, we would hunt and mistreat beastmen, but not because of the beast, but the man within them. I think a part of us deeply hates our species. If someone is just a bit too different form what we perceive is ideal human or acceptable human being with different outviews on the world, we are disgusted, as we look into a mirror of what might be.

Nah, I'm just kidding. We just hate people with other opinions, because they are stupid. Obviously.

Humans know humans are more dangerous than anything else, so humans that are not you or your "kind" are obviously deemed the greatest threat.
