Type of hero to be betrayed and killed by the princess only to regress to the time when he first met the demon king's daughter and then from now on swear to genuinely love her back but then the future kept on changing and the humans and the demons are at war again but this time the humans, unwillingly controlled by the princess using forbidden magic, now has the upper hand due to said lost magic and now the hero has to join the demonkind and somehow end it peacefully to not wipe out the humankind then at chapter 126 the demon king's daughter, having absorbed both white and black magic, has to be sacrificed to the tree of balance so that it can bear the fruit that can free all of the humans and demons the princess has enslaved however in a newly released chapter 127, the real last chapter, the hero goes back in time again to prevent the bad events and it ends in an open ended manner. Chapter 127.5, an omake, shows the hero and demon king's daughter being married.

I mean it’s Shounen right ? If he’s gonna be the male lead he need to be at least likable, especially if he’s gonna be the love of the female protagonist whom the reader gonna be rooting for, the bar is gonna be higher. This hero is anything but that.
And also the solution is not satisfying because he kinda broke his character without any forshadowing, he never compromised before, why now suddenly ? I hope there are good and convincing reasons for this development because I really want to enjoy this series but it’s gonna be hard to pull off.
Either
1. He suddenly remember her from childhood which was hinted at before which I could get behind if they pull this off good enough or
2. The king told him to which is gonna be suck or worse yet they won’t be addressed at all.
How did the hero break character? He has always beem depicted as a man who has great mistrust of demons and is blunt but also rather reserved in action.

Ok so the princess utterly butchered the reason she was doing this and is just a glorified villainous that’s just extremely petty and jealous. She doesn’t even care if she’s a demon she’s just using it as a reason to wedge her way in -sigh- good character assasination.

The hero and king don't act like people befitting of their stations. The hero may still hate Lieselotte, but treating her less than what a demon princess, much less as his fiancee, deserve is such an asshole move. Humans are trash in this series.
I can't blame him. The princess said that she fought against the humans, so she participated in a pointless war. She's not some innocent being and with the prince's trauma of watching his friends die as children, it makes sense why he'd be weary of her.

Believe it or not, they are. I think it's the global readers feasting on so many manga for free that they think they're the target audience when these are made for JP otakus first and foremost.
Or it means those JP otakus and boys audience are not as experienced about what makes shounen a shounen, or they are not having a shot on good titles from like the hits from 2 decades ago.

I still remember I have great times reading record of lodoss war, darren shan saga, ravemaster, flame of recca, CLAMP stuffs, and many others and those are made for JP boys audience, that later goes outside, those are still good read MEANWHILE this here with comically villainess things...
There are some great villainess story too of course, but this chapter makes it hard for me to believe that this manga selling well among boys.

imagine if you watched your entire village die by demons, seeing the apathy of their actions. and after protecting humanity you have to live with the demon lords daughter who thinks that she is above you.
(cus mind you, she has NOT told him the actual reason why shes doing this)

i feel like i that perspective it seemed reasonable, abit demonist but he has a legitamate reason to do so

But he thinks that makes it okay for him to kill demons and treat them they way he claims they treated his friends. That makes him very nearly evil.

I just hope the royal guard guy gets punched in his extremely punchable face later down the road.

As for the hero, he saw our heroine get pressured into releasing her undead. The princess was pretty overtly manipulative and despite his distrust of demons I'd hope he'd not be so stupid as to ignore how suspicious that was.

I suppose it's the mark of a proper villain that I want that vile princess and her ugly thug fed into a woodchipper feet first.

Bruh. They were slaughtering people. The only demon who doesn't want to kill humans or show off demon superiority, that we can tell, is the demon princess. She has the arrogance, but is entirely focused on the goal of getting in the hero's pants. Even if demons weren't comically overpowered compared to humans and they had an actual political goal with this marriage, and the hero was selected to achieve it specifically because of FMC's thirst, he would still have a reasonable reason to be hateful.

The problem is that the peace depends on everyone shutting up and letting this happen, and the human princess is clearly not trained in politics. Despite being a princess. A life that is inherently political.

The humans sure are acting cocky considering they accepted the peace treaty which suggests they are not winning in the 1st place

Well, he didn't saved her immediately but he did in the end. And by limiting her undead power he made sure that others will feel much more at ease around her as time goes on.

And she was able to awake his inner tsundere.

Yeah, no. That is not enough to redeem the hero character for me.

Tell me, what exactly he did to earn such disapproval that the redemption is extremely hard to get?

I think that's not really an applicable argument, the demons as we've seen are outright the aggressors in the situation and humanity was willing to accept this deal because they needed the peace. The demons this guy's been killing would be the ones attacking villages, so his killing would've been during the fending off or the intercepting of an army trying to kill innocents.

You've clearly read too many betrayal and revenge mangas. :nyoron:

After reading this chapter I just have one thing to say about the Princess ...
"breaths in"
biiiiiiiiiiiiitch
No seriously any sympathy points she might have had (due to how demon/human relations have been shown in the manga so far) are now lost. We saw her inner thoughts, this was straight out petty bullying.

This, the manga made it rather clear that the demons are the aggressors and started the war for no known reason and with absolute brutality. The mistrust our MC gets is very well justified, we should remember we are the only ones that know her inner thoughts and even her Handmaid is still very much in the "Evil demon" mindset as we saw.
