Everyone should know that in manga logic, the bad guy who is a friend always redeem themselves at some point. But I hate it that he had to be such a douche, I really liked Barbaros's character, he should've stayed a loyal mischievous friend, but they made him a mass murderer total dipshit... Well, what can we do? We'll eventually forget about his transgressions and like him again.

Is this done by the same guy or artist who did rokudashi Akashic Record? The character designs and the overall flow seem less cliche'd/cardboard and rather interesting.

I like not killing the bad guy here. The bad guy isn't a psycho, just a mage. Mage's are like a thousand years old and obsessed with reverse engineering hitech only to get distracted when they accidentally uncover new uses for said hitech. The demon is merely an AI made of the equivalent of vacuum cleaners and dishwashers stitched into an unholy toaster monstrosity designed to report the weather every score lunar cycles except on leap years. The MC is a badass who figured out a trick to it all. Everybody is sick, witty and with a wicked sense of humar.
