Ha! Demon Lord arrogance that has a purpose. Love it.

Also, Barbaros owes him some good booze now. Double that for accidentally starting more trouble at the end.

There were perfectly valid reasons to kill him, just as there were to let him live. He chose.
Wisely? We'll see. It was definitely not out of character, at least not for the new him that has a nice elf wife/student/slave. The old, cold and calculating Zagan would have slaughtered his enemy, without hesitation.

At least I hope it was a real choice, not the good old "killing is bad, so the MC won't" theme that plagues so many mainstream works. Which is why I hope we'll get to see him kill someone sometime soon, then we'd know that the option is still available.

@Fim Especially for the kidnappings and committing crimes in Zagan's name. I would have given him to the girl from the church and she could have spouted his crimes before they killed him so the public would know that it was him who kidnapped and killed the women.

Not that the concept is extremely original, but this feels like a carbon copy of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, cancel magic wise.

Lame ass ending, naive, childish ending, as fucking always.

@Fim Doubt that he has changed so much as to completely avoid killing. We've already seen him kill two mages since the series began: faceripper, who he exploded the head of (although that was before he met Nephie) and the nameless mage who was working with the bandits he beat up in chapter 3. That guy got completely exploded.

Also, @fresthy, should it be "Mage-killer" or "Mage-Slayer"? Just wondering.

Of course, the mage protagonist would fight with his fists, I really hate it when Japan does this, just give us a vanilla mage for once, no support magic, no magic knights, just fireballs and chain lightning.

It started when an alien device did what it did
And stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid
Now he's got super powers he's no ordinary kid
He's ben 10

That demon design is LEGIT

It's been a good couple of months since I read the novel, before it got taken down, but I definitely didn't imagine it like a badass lanky deep space monstrosity. Me like!

Also, I wonder if I should buy the novel. JNovelClub or someone got hte rights to it, so the person translating it for free had to take down most chapters. (But pssst! You could read the chapters using wayback machine! Though, that mightve changed since I read it.)

I'm definitely going to pay for Honzuki no Gekokujou at some point, but I might add this onto the list as well. Since the chapters I could read only went up to the prologue of Vol. 3. The novel really, whats the word. . . Enraptured? Awed? No, neither of those fit, but it definitely wowed me with how much I enjoyed it. I highly recomend.

@humbleoverlord They're not friends, not really. Zagan basically told Barbaros that he is powerless. Zagan even admitted it was out of pity and that he gains nothing from killing Barbaros. If anything, Barbaros is like a puppy that kept nipping at his heels, only now Zagan finally kicked that puppy and made sure it understood he was far more powerful. Not a pleasant analogy, but considering the circumstances it seems fitting.
