The changes made from the novel are goofy. It's not even a "it's different and therefore bad" situation. I started reading the manga before I found the novel.
There are some improvements, but for every thing I like there are 3 I don't. And some of these changes are just baffling. There are some that were made to make it more child-friendly, some to skip things that would require too much effort, but then they started adding huge sections that just don't fit.
It's frustrating to read.
