The moment you realize the author turn Rei, the protagonist, just into a legit SHIPPER from the audience just like you, but inside the story.

That is genious in form of manga.

But Rei cupid articulating to both contenders came to meet Akari always at the same time, what is he thinking? That it is a match of Shogi?

Might be a matter of wanting them to bond (Hayashida-sensei is a huge fan, after all, so just getting to hang out with his idol, whether he ends up with Akari or not, seems like a plus for him), as well as let Akari get to know both of them and then decide for herself, maybe? He shouldn't just decide unilaterally that he knows best- that's removing the woman's agency. And this is still a story written by a woman. We already know (whether Rei does, though, it's not clear) that she likes both of them, so far, too, according to that one chapter that was from her perspective in the prior volume.

Shouldn't they be willing to travel at least a few kilometers? That place seems to be suffering from overfishing already.
