Musket Girls is fun, but Marginal Operation was something else. While this setting doesn’t seem like it will have supernatural elements like with the Lieutenant’s grim reaper power, nor will it work well with the technological gamification of warfare Arata utilises, nor future knowledge like with Tanya, there’s still plenty of room for novelty and surprise in that tumultuous time. I look forward to a grounded, gritty, and emotionally impactful story, though the plot’s impetus being an excessively cute girl leaves me room for some doubt.
