Well, damn. Okaya's mother is the chief inspector of the police? And here I thought the cops were a 3rd party wild card to the unfolding struggle between him and Maria, but it seems the police is in his pocket and that's not good. Very bad for Maria. This is an ace up his sleeve and likely puts him at least a step ahead of her.

Absurd that he has his own mother, a high official in the police force, as his puppet. It's kind of funny that this woman is aware of the humiliation of the police being outwitted by a bunch of middle school delinquents, while she herself is relying on the "genius" of another school kid, her own son. That poses the question, though. I wonder just how evil is this woman who bore the devil named Nozomu Okaya? Because her son was simply born evil, that's the conclusion this manga has been trying to tell its readers so far.

On the other hand, this gives me hope that it's more likely for Taiichirou to be an ally for Maria rather than him somehow becoming her enemy for drama's sake. If he's forced out of the police force that makes it even more likely.

I don’t know, even for a manga packed with absurdities, the idea of Okaya having control over the police feels like a step too far. It’s one thing to embrace the chaotic and exaggerated elements, but giving a high school boy that much power—especially since it seems he’s had it since middle school—really stretches the limits of believability, even for this story.
