But even within the context of the conversation it doesn't make sense. What Maria said is completely reasonable. Why is he warning her if he doesn't think she has a connection to Taiichirou? And he mentioned them speaking "intimately" by the pool. Everything in the conversation makes sense that he thinks they're dating. But when she says "do you think we're dating?" he's like "LOL typical women turning every conversation to love!" Maybe he's deliberately trying to be a dick and throw her off... ? Idk, very weird.
