It's not unheard of, but I wouldn't call it common outside of bible translations; for those who don't know, most bible translations take into account the septuigent, the original greek translation of the old hebrew old testament.

I've seen a lot of translators admit to this because sometimes finding RAWs can be hard.
However this is the first time I've seen someone just straight up not erase the prior text before putting in their own lmao.
