I still find having a crush on a 8 years old girl is unusual (I don't get attracted on younger people, and it's a kid dude), 6 years gap is not really a problem. I prefer older person, so I don't mind 8 years gap to umm 10 years?? My point is as long as Marika is on the legal age, don't worry too much because you don't have a big age gap. I guess having feelings for younger ones are tough huh.

Wow i never though the author would explaining things in such a good way. This really adressing the problem, even though the present age gap is an okay but the moment he fell in love is when she was still a child (12 years old). Imagine if you are a college student and falling in love with 6 grade elementary school or 1st year middle schooler especially there is a case with his sensei in his high school. It is going to haunt you forever, and the only way for this to be resolved is from Marika ends to give him an assurance that they can love each other.

I don't think he is a pedophile, because while, yes, he fell for her when she was 12, he STILL loves her until now, a legal adult. A pedophile is someone that has a romantic and/ or sexual attraction towards someone that is underage ONLY. Usually, the pedophiles I see in the news are always targeting, grooming, and molesting underage kids, they rarely continue their "relationship" after the victim is a legal adult, if they DO continue it, the pedophile will always cut off the now legal adult after finding a new underage victim. In this manga, he is attracted to Marika and Marika alone, the unfortunate parts are that he developed his attraction towards her when they were both just kids and their age gap. Fortunately, Yuu realized that he needs to distance himself from Marika, so that no one will fall victim and become an offender unintentionally and he won't cause something that will harm both of them in the eyes of law and the public. This desperation from Yuu to distance himself from Marika made a dent on his relationship and how he views Marika, he still carries unnecessary guilt of loving a minor, because Marika has already reached Japan's legal age and is actively approaching him.
And the way I see it, as long as both parties are of legal age and consent to a relationship, no matter how small or huge the age gap they have, is fine and nothing to be frowned upon (in the eyes of law). My dad's colleague (male mid 40s) married a beautiful and intelligent woman (in her 20s). My mom's friend and her husband has an age gap of 11 years, their daughter is indifferent towards huge age gaps but still knows and aware of the legal age required. I just hope Yuu realizes that he doesn't have to be wary anymore and his love is now legal and justified to pursue!

@RozuArison08 Bruh he did not have a crush on her when she was 8. That's when they first met. He started realizing he loved her when she was abt 11-12 and he was in high school. (all boys think with their lower head at that age tbh) Obviously it's weird af for a high schooler to like a 12 yr old and he recognized that. But the point is he likes her as a person and not cuz of her age. If he was pedo he wouldnt be in love with her cuz theyre both in their 20s now

He doesn't love her 12 year-old body and mind, what he loves is her as a whole being aka her soul. also, they're both consenting adults by now, he left her alone because he knew going after her at such a young age is predatory but now she's telling him that she loves her so HE BETTER GETS HIS SH{T TOGETHER.

@comedyxtragedy yeah, age gap becomes more acceptable as you grow older, because it's not so much about a gap in age as it is about a gap in maturity. There is a massive difference between a 10 years old and a 20 years old. One is an adult, the other is a kid. But there isn't that much of a difference between a 60 years old and a 50 years old. Both are adults.
I also agree that this isn't all black or white, we're in a situation where there is a moral dilemma. The fact that he was attracted to her as a kid is fucked up, and it's normal for him to be disgusted by himself for it. It's pedophilia we're talking about after all. He understood how wrong he was and distanced himself from her. Then she came back to him, and now he is realizing he still have a crush on her. The situation is different from the previous situation, because they are both adults now. If I was in his position I wouldn't have pursued the relationship, because I think the moral orders me to drop it. He fell in love with her when she was a kid, which makes the whole relationship fucked up. But there is indeed room for discussion, it's a grey area.

I like how Yuu actually realized that his feelings for Marika when he was a teenager and she was still a child were wrong and had to figure things out while distancing himself. He didn't act on his base feelings.
Where he was wrong is when he tried to do something gross to push her away. That was fucked up. He didn't have to do that.
But now, they are both adults. Having feelings for her now is fine, a six year age gap is nothing. No one is doing anything wrong, but I hope the cat and mouse game continues for a bit because Marika trying to pretend she's a dom is hilarious.

Because it'd make you question whether he had secretly groomed her or not. From the audience perspective we know that's not the case and that's why we can root for Yuu. His attraction although abnormal is not a crime, and he made efforts to control himself from acting upon it whilst she was still vulnerable. That's the difference between him and society's image of "pedophiles" all being sexual predators. As well as the fact that it's only towards her.

that's the point lol, it was supposed to be fucked up so that Marika would turn herself away from Yuu. He already knew Marika was attracted to him so the only way he could push her away was doing something as wrong as he did (or so he thought at the time)

I should've read the tags. Oh god, shit hit the fan. For one thing, I think the way they're brought the subject matter, and the fact that he is aware that it is wrong but still is suffering from inner conflict is good.
But for me it's such a 180 from the initial silly smut that I had assumed (my fault I know), there is even this weird implication that them being end game is okay now bc they're both "legal" but at the same time I think I'll feel worse if this was just a silly smut series with him actually masturbating to thoughts of Marika when she was in middle school when he was in University just for the quirky porn they'll be having at this quirky tandem.
Adding actual consequences gives insight on how fucked up that situation was which is props but man.
