What kind of ... "People are getting sick because of dark mana poisoning!"

Chibi: "Hey, I found this magic circle very cleverly hidden in plain sight along with others."
MC: "!" ..... ....... "I..... I'm working.." ..... 'Could THIS be the cause?! We've found it, the mysterious cause behind the people getting unnaturally sick, so it wasn't natural! We'll be on the Scooby Gang in no time, folks!"

And now he can also rip mana from people, including heroes? So he's just straight up an all powerful wizard. He can use all magic with no limits, and can sap magic, and use poison magic called "Mana overload" that he can control the specific targets on in a zone? Ugh.

All Alan had to do when he saw the MC was snitch on those criminals. But no, he decided to try and sell drugs in front of him like an absolute clown

I also had to reread it to understand. But it's not that the translation is wrong. She said:

We can only give leftover quests to people with criminal records!

This means that, for people with a criminal record, the only available quests are the ones nobody wanted to take. Most likely, those are quests that pay very little for what's being asked. In other words, Alan can't even take E-rank quests, unless it's one that no one wanted to accept.

What the fuck did the guild/kingdom expect by releasing him and denying him any means of sustaining himself not giving him quests. That's how you make outlaws. Either kill/imprison him, or bump him down to E-rank and enable him to still do low-level quests.
I am guessing it was both mercy and sadism of the kingdom's laws at the same time. Like in the biblical stories, there were notable characters who should've struck down to death but instead 'marked' for life and even made to wander the world for fucking long time (like Cain brother of Abel). They say not executing someone is mercy but at the same time throwing them back out to the cruel world, stigmatized like that, to fend for themselves can be considered even worse than imprisonment. For all we know these mofos are being used by some nobles as expendable/disposable workforce even if they are a syndicate.

But yeah, I agree, the kingdom should just execute some of them or freeze them or something instead of throwing them out. They're bound to more trouble than they're worth after all. (like what happeneed here).

Left over quests are jobs that is like odd jobs which is being ignored by adventurers because the pay is too low and the quest is boring. That's why it's the only job they could give to people who has the mark because they can't be trusted with normal quests.

Say what you want about the former hero, you can pity him a bit for being manipulated so badly by the demons.

It wasn't there until she moved her scanning magic circle near it, so the magic circle wasn't in plain sight. MC has also been tailoring mana for the situation from the start of the series.

I kind of hate this kind of draconian law, because it basically makes it so anyone who commits a crime (and is marked) is now pushed into doing even worse crimes because they can't sustain themselves otherwise. If they try and "redeem" themselves normally, they're basically reduced into doing menial labor for free (which can be considered a punishment in itself) but effectively cannot live because they don't make enough to sustain themselves (which means there is no real redemption other than a very very slow death by starvation)

This also doesn't consider the possibility of just being killed by someone who sees the mark and decides to "take revenge on a criminal" because it's unlikely anyone will believe the criminal if they're assaulted by "a normal citizen".

The moment Alan was branded, he was forced onto the path of becoming a pawn of a greater evil with no chance of redemption whatsoever (assuming he wanted to redeem himself to begin with)

kind of disappointed in writing, this was a opportunity to show that even shithead is not completely evil if he decided to go against the guild (getting in even more trouble) or at least leaving them. but no, boring cliche route it is.

this was the original point of outlawing people. don't want to play by society's rules? have fun trying to survive without society's protection. they were supposed to get killed or starve in the forest soon enough
