Claune treated the MC and his mother well from the start, and most people in Hyme (including Claune) have nothing to do with how poorly the Roundheart family treated him. I hope the writer didn't forget those details. If the writer purposefully made the MC decline to mention those details to focus on the MC's responsibilities, self-esteem, and public image, then well done.
The writer seemed to want the Roundheart father to be a bad person, but revealed almost nothing about the father's reasons for acting the way he did, and didn't really show the father treating the MC poorly outside the context of the inheritance contract (which the MC's mother tricked him into upholding).
If you really love and think about Ishtalica it's normal for us to detest Hyme.
"If you love your country it's normal for you to love X or hate Y" is a red flag for me.
