"ripoff" is a strong word. I prefer the word "inspired." This is different from One Punch Man because in One Punch Man there really isn't a lot of magic being used. In this one, there is a lot of magic. Also strong OP MC in manga and anime isn't a surprise. There is a lot of OP MC out there. Just because there is a strong MC that punches people, doesn't straight up copy One Punch Man. One Punch Man didn't invent the idea of punching. Stories get inspired by other stories. It's like saying this isekai is copying that isekai because the MC is getting transported to another world. Its just a genre. One Punch Man is more of a superhero manga than, whatever genre Mashle is. Its magic and school life. Even though the Mash looks like Mob from Mob Psycho, does that mean he is just a straight up copy of Mob? No. Why? Because Mash is an "inspiration" of Mob. The difference between "rip off" and "inspiration" is that a rip off is a straight up copy of the original from the smallest detail to the character and their designs and plot. Whereas in "inspiration" is when the characters are similar, but the author changed it in a way that it is a different character with its own different backstory. And the plot could end up being different altogether because of the characters themselves and in this case, One Punch Man just wants to fight because its fun. As for Mashle, Mash is going to a school, and be the best only for him and his dad can live a normal life. Yeah they are both super strong, but strong OP characters isn't a surprise in manga and anime, but to the characters in the stories, it could be a surprise since strong characters aren't normal to regular people. Stories get inspired by other stories because it will get harder to think of original ideas as time goes one. You just have to be one of those lucky people to get think of those golden ideas. That's where the inspiration comes in. For years so many books, movies, games, music, and anything you can think of, there is usually an inspiration behind it. And the series is just starting, give it some time and see how it plays out.

TL;DR It isn't a rip off just an inspiration.

This is like Harry Potter meets OPM. Lmao. Headmaster looks like Dumbledore, the female Prof looks like McGonagall, the maze was like goblet of fire's last task and even had a Sphinx in there too with the same riddle. LMAO. Pacing feels kinda weird though, like an attempt to embody the same tone and casualness of OPM but slightly missing the mark.
