This whole thing is basically a fever dream. I can't complain about half of it being the cooking stuff since that is the stated premise, but I'm definitely here more for the half that's about the sci-fi and philosophy stuff. And really, the more you find out about the world, the less it makes sense that 'good food solves all problems' only happened after one specific modern Japanese kid arrived here.
There are so many other more interesting characters who have more intelligence, experience or ideas that are simply doomed to play second fiddle to a kid who happens to be good at cooking. I don't begrudge him for having those skills or making the world a better place with them, making friends with them, but it feels do disrespectful to some actually good content they could be pursuing here. It become all the more galling when you do see there being actual culinary practices elsewhere with other people.
