I do like that the danger is still credible and real even if MC is going to deal with the source. To often it just deflates the whole situation once and OP MC gets involved, so I like that their preparation is still required. Although, I do not know why they didn't try to mention that someone was trying to conquer it already... felt like they just forgot about it.
