i find it interesting that you would likely be able to pull the trigger and kill evildoers easily, going by you comment. these people, including the bandits, have been the first group of humans the MC encountered in ages and his previous knowledge and experiences abided by certain laws and his familiarity with strangers. defending yourself against bandits or killing them in self-defence if necessary is one situation, but killing them while they are unconscious requires an active mindset to do the act.
Nah bro don't try to reason with them, they are all perfect hard boiled badasses.
it's not like Abe Shu practically said "i admit my fault and acknowledge your ways, give me some time to make my mind and i will abide by them" And those saying that he had this coming.
This boss guy wasn't even in the group of people they were tying up, he would have shown up and kidnapped the girl whether he had killed them or not.

PS: it doesn't even matter we all know we read this manga for Tamiko

This tired moralizing from the Japanese of how it's evil to kill under any circumstance is indicative of how entirely vapid their society really is as a whole.
Not only does it show a clear disconnect between the narrative and the setting, it completely outlines that the author has self-inserted themselves as the character just to grandstand and show others how morally just they are for "doing the right thing" even though it more often than not leads to questionable results at best, and bad results at worst.

And yeah, I completely agree that this is just some asspull to force the MC into killing them later down the line. Seen it too many times, just like everything else wrong with this whole scenario.
Honestly was thinking the same as I was reading. Though I've found it in western novels too; albeit not as prominent. The moral high ground gets extremely old and off-putting. On the same notion, their whole "Im Japanese, so staying clean is a must" gets just as old.

You're right, I only read this for her, for some reason, her character works realy well in this.

What I'm moreso interested in is the fact that he's been isolated for years, his only form of socialization from a talking chipmunk, and he's still "normal" despite the fact, i.e. he hadn't gone feral murder-hobo

All these basement hardasses telling us how they'd totally murder unconscious strangers (and feel good about it), and nobody talking about how murderous bandit gangs are an absolutely retarded fantasy trope that literally only exist for the author to have a human/sapient enemy you can feel good about killing. Real bandits/pirates/highwaymen/etc. are out for your money, not your life - if they were just a bunch of murder hobos no one would ever use the roads... and the bandits would fucking starve to death.

If they're big enough to be organized, the natural progression is to something of a toll agreement with merchants historically - you don't generally want to murder your primary income source. But no, realism bends to drama milking.

It's like none of these people whining about "muh moralizing" realize they're falling for a trope made to convince teenagers that the narrative's extrajudicial killings are okay.

Now, that's not to say extrajudicial killings aren't ever justified in a narrative... but for fuck's sake this is about the laziest way to do it.

I miss when they were still stuck in the metro, it was better written.

I mean if the mc still has a moral from his previous world, just let the local people do the job. Let the people who knew this world best do their law, and you think hard about your moral and what will you do in the new world slowly.

Imagine if you suddenly dropped in the middle of conflict area in medieval age. Your group consist of you and some local warrior. And you got ambushed, you and your group fight back, and won. Then the local people from your group said that we should kill the people that ambushed us. You cant just say "no we shouldn't kill them, every people has a right to live and become a better person" to them. Bro they proposed to kill them because they speak from experience. If you don't agree with them, just step away and let the local warrior kill them. Its not a peaceful world like the one you know

Absolutely hilarious reading all the comments calling the mc a loser who doesn't kill people because of his morals.

IMO, this trope of "not killing them leads to consequences" isn't used enough. Either the MC is immediately already hard boiled af and drives a power fantasy trip, or they're goody two shoes the whole way through and suffer little to no repercussions cuz they're just too op.

I find it difficult to believe that someone could spend 5 years hunting and being hunted constantly, and still somehow be so stuck in modern civilisation that they can't kill a human who tries to kill them

The guy has been around for years inside the deepest part of the dungeon, desperately killing everything in order to survive, and now he hesitates when humans attacking him?

Nah, I called that BS, because the MC should've developed a better mentality, and also grasps the situation that the world he lived in currently is vastly different compared to the one in the past, where it's basically "survival of the fittest".

I mean if the mc still has a moral from his previous world, just let the local people do the job. Let the people who knew this world best do their law, and you think hard about your moral and what will you do in the new world slowly.
And THIS is supposedly what the MC is doing if he's that insecure, where he should've let the girl to decide, since she's the native people on that world, while he's an outsider.

It's sad that even the author fails to use common sense in conveying the story...

Many people who loudly say about killing but will get cold feet when they are in the same situation.

We are raised from childhood until adult under a moral basis of frowning upon the act of killing human being. Even something resemble human would too causing a reaction from mental system.

One way of bypass this is try to familiar yourself with the action of killing. Try with chickens or preferably ducks, you can cook them up later after and the blood can also be made into "tiết canh" or raw blood soup, a cuisine in my country, quite delicious too.

Slowly slit the throat of the duck and let it bleed out. Try to feel the convulsion and squirming when it's dying. It do help somewhat to numb your feeling of guilt. Do it enough and you actually can become to enjoying the process, especially when you can making some delicious dishes after.
