Not wanting to kill the aggressors when they've been captured and are unconscious: not entirely unreasonable . Something bad happening after the monologuing and hesitation: 🤦♂️
Nah bro don't try to reason with them, they are all perfect hard boiled badasses.i find it interesting that you would likely be able to pull the trigger and kill evildoers easily, going by you comment. these people, including the bandits, have been the first group of humans the MC encountered in ages and his previous knowledge and experiences abided by certain laws and his familiarity with strangers. defending yourself against bandits or killing them in self-defence if necessary is one situation, but killing them while they are unconscious requires an active mindset to do the act.
Honestly was thinking the same as I was reading. Though I've found it in western novels too; albeit not as prominent. The moral high ground gets extremely old and off-putting. On the same notion, their whole "Im Japanese, so staying clean is a must" gets just as old. This tired moralizing from the Japanese of how it's evil to kill under any circumstance is indicative of how entirely vapid their society really is as a whole.
Not only does it show a clear disconnect between the narrative and the setting, it completely outlines that the author has self-inserted themselves as the character just to grandstand and show others how morally just they are for "doing the right thing" even though it more often than not leads to questionable results at best, and bad results at worst.
And yeah, I completely agree that this is just some asspull to force the MC into killing them later down the line. Seen it too many times, just like everything else wrong with this whole scenario.
You're right, I only read this for her, for some reason, her character works realy well in this.Nah bro don't try to reason with them, they are all perfect hard boiled badasses....
PS: it doesn't even matter we all know we read this manga for Tamiko
Absolutely hilarious reading all the comments calling the mc a loser who doesn't kill people because of his morals.
IMO, this trope of "not killing them leads to consequences" isn't used enough. Either the MC is immediately already hard boiled af and drives a power fantasy trip, or they're goody two shoes the whole way through and suffer little to no repercussions cuz they're just too op.
And THIS is supposedly what the MC is doing if he's that insecure, where he should've let the girl to decide, since she's the native people on that world, while he's an outsider.I mean if the mc still has a moral from his previous world, just let the local people do the job. Let the people who knew this world best do their law, and you think hard about your moral and what will you do in the new world slowly.
They did kill in self defense. That’s different from executing an unconscious person who is tied up.I just can't get behind these cringe MCs, mother fucker just slaughtered beasts for YEARS and now all of a sudden he can't kill someone in self defense... yeah nah dropped
