Sato having a small realization he's not in a video game anymore. But he's still kinda casually dismissing it. I see this being a foreboding premonition of something coming.

Thanks for the upload.
Not the first time he's realized he's not in the game anymore and you don't come back from death, probably won't be the last.

Kinda, but not really, surprised Mei stepped in. Was half expecting Hiro to activate his bullet-time powers.

We haven't seen training simulators yet, I wonder what they're like - probably not built to train for the crazy stuff your average MMO player comes up with.
Uh, we have?

Chapter 3.1 Page 8. When he takes the Mercenary Guild license test and gets Gold. Short of Platinum Level. I wouldn't doubt they use similar patterns to a Kobayashi Maru test. Where they have escalating danger levels.

The primary difference, is their training simulations are based more on standard space combat, probably mostly Pirates and standard fighters/ships, not Crystal Lifeforms. That experience is his primary tactical advantage over other pilots. Krishna, is also a very high spec compared to what everyone else is using.

To be fair to the idiot mercenary, some dude he's never heard of (who nobody has heard of before a few months ago) just shows up out of nowhere, joins a battle uninvited, and gets the highest medal a civilian can hope for and that many have died for, and he's expected to just accept it? I would expect that somebody with that kind of capability would at least have some rumors going around about how good they are, not just be a complete ghost.
And to be fair Hiro is keeping a very low profile over the course of the story. Of course nobody ever heard of him before he got all this insane buffs, money and crew.
And he loves it, because keeping low means people overestimate jim and makr mistakes when confronting him. Like those thugs who kidnapped the dwarf girl.

Being the best pilot and a good captain doesn't mean you're immediately also an amazing cqc fighter. Props to him not being a wuss and hiding, he was actually preparing to fight... even if he does get beat up, he'd still be a better pilot than any of them.

Imagine picking fights with someone that can avoid dozens of enemy crafts, destroy key targets and HAS A HUGE FUCKING SHIP WITH HUGE FUCKING GUNS.

And has a sword of a noble on his waist. They are a HUGE warning sign, because only nobles carry them. In the setting, everyone knows that sword=noble, and you don't screw with nobles. They are stronger than you and faster than you(genetic and cybernetic enhancements are pretty standard among the nobility), carry swords that cut through you like air, and are held to a different set of laws than you. They can, both physically and legally, cut a non-noble down basically at any time for any reason.

And the assault wing something-or-other medal gives Hiro all the rights and privileges of a noble.

This random dude gets off with just a shattered wrist because he is lucky and Hiro's nice.

The only things I can think of are ranking simulators when he initially got his merc rank, beating Elma. I think there are also simulators on the ship which the crew uses to practice.

Don't think I've ever seen anyone try to do anything crazy like our main character, but just try to refine what they already know they can do. He has exceptional spacial awareness.

There is more to this as well, but I feel that may go into spoiler territory.

I hate when they toss in some rando who acts like no one in his position would act just to create some drama. Spend some time setting up why he would let his emotions override all reason. If the setup isn't worth the time than neither is the payoff lacking any setup.

"What was that? It must have been a trick!"

Ah, yes, the enemy carrier units just exploded on their own. On command. Yes, that's totally what happened.
To be a trick, the entire battle would need to have been staged.
But I guess this is a purely emotional reaction. Those are never known to be thought through, it's not unique to this guy.
I get the response though. Like imagine this in real life. One dude strolling through a battlefield, casually dodging bullets while using his revolver to headshot all of his enemies.

Though I wish the MC just said, "Training pods." and left it like that. This way is just too cliche.

They're in the middle of a military base. I'm pretty sure that turning a guy into spaghetti sauce would be somewhat of a bad idea at the moment.
If it was a military officer or other dignitary. I doubt anyone would do much about the just awarded hero making an example out of another merc who didn't know his place.

Though I agree it'd be a bad look that should be avoided, especially if he plans to move up the aristocracy ladder.

Thanks for the chapter. Today's my birthday, so having one of my favorite titles update feels like a birthday present. Thank you very much. My best regards to you and hidamari. Have a nice day.

I mean, he's just saying what everyone else is thinking. No one is watching Hiro's antics and thinking "Yes, that was a sound strategy indicative of a brilliant tactical mind". They're all thinking "Like hell he did! What in the everloving shit did I just watch!"

Mercenary is a career that tends to attract hotheads and idiots, the kind of people who let their mouth get ahead of their brain. It is also a career that tends to weed hotheaded idiots out rapidly if they don't figure it out. I think he's an idiot, but a credible oned

To pile on to poor Rando Calrissian's faux paus, though... accusing Hiro of acquiring his honors through deceit and falsehood can be interpreted as casting aspersions upon Serena, as it was upon her word that he was honored.

Dude could have made this worse, but it would require some effort. He had the sense to wait until the awards ceremony was over, and took his beef up with Hiro instead of Serena.
...
And he swung at Hiro, not his crew. That would be an AMAZINGLY bad idea, as it turns out. (I've read ahead in the novels.)

Thank u always for ur great work...
^^...

He got a "special" seat...
:pacman:

n he is quite a dumb merc eh?
With several hint of what kind of medal that granted to him + double sword on his waist = it's like he just seeking a trouble for himself n his ship/crew...
(OωO`)...
