Nope, the expedition is a huge success, leading to MC becoming a Honorary Viscount.
This also leads to a Truth being revealed which had and would be hinted a few times prior.

Serena does eventually join MC's Harem, but it's quite a while later.
Currently Manga plot is covering LN Vol.6 plot, while she joins the Harem in Vol.15, after she & MC gets entraped in a conspiracy of a Noble who plans to betray the Empire, and Serena gets drugged using an enhanced illegal full of side-effects aphrodisiac, and MC has to have sex with her to keep her mind sane and save her life as it's lethal as well, until an antidote is created.

As for the next Harem member to permanently join, she won't appear until Vol.11, followed by another in Vol.12 (who had already debuted before), and then another in Vol.16.

In the mean time, MC would met like 4 new key female characters, one of whom is Semi-Harem member (semi because she doesn't stay with MC for long nor has physical relationship with him, but seems to have feelings for MC), while the other 3 are not Harem members yet atleast until latest LN & WN plot (as of this post on 19th Dec 2025).

There is also a future crew candidate as well, who debuts in Vol.14, but isn't supposed to join atleast for now (and MC hopes she gives up joining his group by the time he said he would allow her to join).

Another new member mentioned in the WN, who kind-off joins MC's Harem (she does join MC's crew, but not his Harem directly).

You do know that, Harem series are actually not that big portion of LN & Manga series in Japan.
Yeah they get translated more, but even now Harem series are in the minority when compared to all the series released.

So if you have issues with Harem series, then just drop them.

As for only sticking with just two women, well it wouldn't have worked in this situation, as both Elma & Mimi were introduced almost at the beginning of the series, so it wouldn't have worked out properly and the series would have ended as a short series (like 4-5 LN volumes).

I mean, just seeing 3 characters as regulars for over 16 LN volumes would have gotten boring by now. And if new characters were added without Harem focus, then it would mean introduction of male characters in the crew, which could have led to talk about potential ntr of Elma & Mimi.

I mean, this series isn't really an in-depth type of story like say "Ascendance of a Bookworm" or "Mushoku Tensei" or "TenSura", were the plot itself is of the importance rather than the characters, so not much focus needed on harem aspect.

Well, i think female dwarfs rarely work outside dwarf owned companies or dwarf home planet/colony.

I'm pretty sure they did do it that one time, way back in the earlier chapters when she came over for some sort of celebration. But aside from that, the only way they'd have a permanent connection would likely be through marriage. She's a Fleet Commander (and a rather well-regarded and decorated one at that) and she can't very well just up and leave.

Is there anything in the WN (or LN) about Elmas ship? Way back in chapters 5-8, we know it was wrecked when it crashed into the military ship, and she ended up owing 3 million Enel but couldn't pay it back in time cause her ship was being repaired. In chapter 8, Hiro says he paid what she owed in full, and after that there no mention of her ship ever again (at least so far). So what happened to her ship? Was it used/sold off as part of the payment? Is it in storage after it was repaired?

It's like the ship just disappears with no explanation why. I thought from the crash that the ship was totalled beyond repair as it seemed like the only thing left was the cockpit since it was made extra strong. But she does say later the ship was being repaired, and then poof, no more ship in the story.

that was a long time ago...
either she get a new ship or repair the previous one, in any case it works as an interdictor ship, preventing pirates from fleeing using hyperspacetechnomabog using an emitter of some kind
