If you want a legal and free Photoshop alternative, maybe try Krita or Gimp?
While I love Krita, it's generally geared more towards drawing/sketching/painting. The type tool is there but kinda awkward and it would take longer to typeset because it involves more steps the way it is now. I don't remember if GIMP's type tool is any better, I just remember its UI being very non-intuitive and clunky and I gave up on tinkering with it so not sure if that would be a better alternative.
The closest thing to Photoshop that's free is Photopea (which is basically its clone) and you can use it in any browser, no download necessary. It has ads though iirc and not sure if it lets you save progress. Worth a try either way.
