That's another thing, too, because she's a teenage girl, she wouldn't be able to compete at the levels that really rake in the money in either of the sports you mentioned. She, at best, could use her teenage years to build herself up in the sporting community and give her better chances at playing in the pros later on, but all of that work wouldn't be done for the money, her modelling career would be what would finance her sporting expenses and stuff.

Considering Michiru as such, I doubt that she is thinking about anything deep. However, perhaps her sister is thinking about it for her.

I guess that makes more sense than disappearing donuts, but for some reason that's what I always thought was happening here. And just no one questioned what happened to the stuff on the alter. (Maybe they assumed someone else took it?)

Typically in many Asian customs nowadays, we have a ritual, do our prayers, and when it's all done and dusted we split the food with the whole family, reheat it, and make it a big family feast.

Not sure if the same can be said for Japanese customs specifically or other Asian countries.
