@Amber_Clad No it's been heavily implied several times over as well as being a Japanese trope in fiction. If you ever read "Sore wa rei no Shiwaza desu" it is the exact same trope down to a T. Immense life energy is eaten by the ghost of the series which causes the person it's feeding from to become hungry. The ghost has even weaponized it for comedic purposes.
