Think back to Chapter 5.1, and the "discussion" Yamada had with Mii about why, exactly, the store owner didn't press charges. Yeah. That's right. This is where we see how she came to think nothing of doing that. It isn't horribly graphic, but it's... pretty horrible.

Hard to say without seeing the full context, but はしとはし here could be referring to the way you split disposable chopsticks (waribashi) apart when you use them, as a metaphor for two people joined at the hip being separated.
