So, do Hareta's parents actually exist? I'm not going to go back through the whole series to look for them, but do we ever actually see his parents/their faces? With blondie, one of the more "aware" characters, doubting the existence of areas outside Japan, I'm wondering how far the last Thursdayism goes here. Is this an actual, full world, or a poorly thought out snippet for a dating sim? I'm expecting this series to get pretty existential at this point, so having Miss Knows More Than She Lets On question things feels like foreshadowing.

jesus. worst example i could really think of was nami from harvest moon, who left the valley and never came back if you didnt marry her.
That's why in Harvest Moon/Rune Factory games I always marry the ones who seem to not have anyone besides the player in their life.

To anyone here that knows, are arranged marriages actually still a thing in Japan, even if rare?

Yes, around 15% of modern marriages are through omiai, or "arranged marriages" (per the 健康と出産に関する全国調査).

That said, the idea of them being arranged entirely by families is almost extinct (mostly among some weird ass traditional wealthy families), because in general, it has evolved to be a programmed matchmaking that involves both individuals, often mediated by a third party (仲人, or matchmaker)

Destroying the world so you can be with your femboy girlfriend feels more common a motive than you'd think it should.

Man, when looked at outside of femboy hijinks, their lives really are a nightmare scenario. The game system is not a nice reality to be in.
They free... Inside a box

Seriously tho it's scary because they AWARE and like a string puppet there's nothing they can do

Unless kirihara rip the fabric of space and time to kiss his femboy Tongue style

Yeah, I think it's a commentary on dating sims in general. If you think about it, choosing a route usually (I have limited experience here, correct me if I'm wrong) kinda freezes all the other routes narratively. If the losing heroines don't just disappear, that means that the situations that the heroines find themselves in before their route (i.e. the gyaru heroine here is getting married to some old dude) still happen, and those situations are usually not good. By not choosing a heroine, Hareta is kinda damning all of them to their bad ends unless he finds a way to save everyone and still be with Misaki.

why does this femboy manga have deep lore/anything to actually say
There's also a theory from another commenter that stated that this wasn't Hareta's first world and that he's failed before. I personally think it's pretty plausible judging by his reactions to everything.
Anyways, I think it can also be seen as a meta take on society itself, roles people fill. Stigma against gay relations ships, etc.

This is unfortunately going to just have Misaki try to create distance again after hearing that...

But yeah, this world sucks. Even if Hareta gets his good ending with Misaki , and it doesnt reset, the others seem doomed.

Maybe the way to stop the resets, while being with Misaki, is to make sure the 3 of them not chosen are set on a happy route even without Hareta.
Or he goes for the harem route. All of these games have one
