I had expected something closer to how napoleon did it, with reputation and trust being grown slow and steady, but considering she already grew that with the revolutionaries a good bit before the revolution had taken over -- I really should not have been that surprised about her doing this that early, hell, the king is not even dead jet, right?
Going balls deep into war is no shock whatever however, makes me wonder who the Brittan and Russia equivalent(s) are/is going to be in this, if there is going to be one.

To be fair, as the royalty was just executed, as nobility she would be the next on the chopping block.

I kind of expected that, though not to this extent.
First, Mitsuba herself wants chaos and conflict. She wouldn't just let the country settle into a "peaceful" republic so easily.
And second, following the model of the French Revolution and the subsequent Terror, the new regime was starting pretty brutally. Not just with the execution of the king, but also the leader of the extremist faction already labeling the opposition as "enemies". After being extremely rude to Mitsuba, I could already see him antagonizing her needlessly and getting killed for it.
However, I didn't think she was already prepared to simply kill all the leaders and seize power herself.
